Gaud was born and grew up in Brittany, France.
As a child, she plays with the surrounding nature, and creates her first shapes and compositions accordingly. At the age of twelve, she attends the National Fine Arts School of Rennes. She draws in pencil, charcoal, Indian ink and paints with watercolor and gouache. As a teenager, she strides galleries and exhibitions in her home town and in Paris. Meanwhile, she practices contemporary dance, raising her awareness of body movement. As she studies communication, the theme of inner identity becomes a real passion. At the age of twenty-two, she leaves France for the Netherlands. She discovers a multitude of cultures and individualities then comes back to Paris, where she works in human relations for international companies. In 2000, Gaud feels the need to create again and buys her first brick of clay. She starts by representing women's bodies, suggesting their mood and thoughts in her sculpture. In the meantime, she keeps drawing. In 2007, Gaud attends drawing and painting classes with live models. From 2009 until 2014, she decides to focus on clay sculpture of live models and attends the courses of Jean-Dominique Giacometti. Inspired by each model, she wishes to give movements and life to her sculptures and extract the specific personality. She works with clay, then later plaster and iron wire. Always eager to receive advice and to approach different practices, she attends the classes of Véronique Gestin and Isabelle Mouedeb at Les Ateliers du Carroussel in Les Arts Décoratifs de Paris. She also joins the workshops of Nour Awada at the Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts de Paris, and enlarges her skills in private Parisian studios where she develops her new projects. She is influenced by the Nabis, Fauvists and Surrealists, and female artists such as Diane Arbus, Louise Bourgeois or Sophie Calle. Since her childhood, she attends workshops and continuing trainings in French Art Schools such as l’Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts, les Ateliers des Arts Décoratifs, and private studios in Paris. Her sculptures are subsequently shown in Europe and Hong Kong in Art Fairs, Solo & group exhibitions and Charity’s auctions. |
Gaud é nata e cresciuta in Bretagna.
